How night pharmacies work in Cyprus

In Cyprus, pharmacies take turns to stay on duty. The Pharmacy Council draws up the list twice a year and the Ministry of Health publishes it for each district. Only a few pharmacies are on duty each night: about six in Nicosia, five in Limassol, three in Larnaca, two or three in Paphos and Famagusta.

Hours

A duty runs from 08:00 to 08:00 the next morning. In winter (1 October – 30 April) a duty pharmacy stays open without the midday break until 22:00, in summer (1 May – 30 September) until 23:00. On Sundays and public holidays it opens at 08:00. After closing and until 08:00 the pharmacist is available for urgent prescriptions only.

At night, call first

At night the doors are closed. Call the pharmacy or the night number, then set off: you will know the pharmacist is expecting you and has the medicine. If a life is in danger, call 112.

Other pharmacies

The rules let pharmacies open no earlier than 08:00. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday they close for lunch 13:30–15:00 (summer 13:30–16:00) and by 18:30 at the latest (summer 19:30). On Wednesday and Saturday they close at 13:30, on Sunday they are closed. Each pharmacy's exact hours vary, so we show them as the limits set by the rules. Seasonal pharmacies in tourist areas keep other hours.

Map points and marks

Waze and Google Maps buttons appear only when the pharmacy's point is confirmed: the same phone or the same pharmacist's name in OpenStreetMap and in the list, or the Ministry address found on the same street in the same community or postcode. Otherwise you get the address to copy, so we never send you to the wrong place. "Works" and "closed" marks come from visitors standing at the pharmacy and are shown for the last hour only. They are not official.
